Small Groups

Small groups are micro-communities in the church dedicated to sharing life together, developing close friendships, and living out their lives in pursuit of Christ. Whether meeting for the purpose of fellowship, prayer, spiritual enrichment, or service, Small Groups offer relational and conversational opportunities for deeper discipleship.

We have split our groups into four categories, each with a specific focus:

Sunday School

In our Classical Discipleship Sunday School Classes, we come to increase our knowledge of the God revealed in the Bible. He is the holy one who has purpose for our lives. His word is unchanging, eternal, profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction and for training in righteousness. The word of God sustains, heals, and gives life to the soul.

A tried and true method for growing in our knowledge of God and His Word is an organized classroom setting.  Classical Discipleship, which includes our Adult Sunday School and our Pittsford Bible Institute classes help shape and sharpen our thinking about spiritual truths, including a practical emphasis.

That is why we encourage everyone to participate in a Sunday School class. No matter where  you are in your journey of faith there is a class for you!

Serving

Followers of Christ are commanded by Jesus to serve one another. Every one of us has been created by God with unique giftings and talents that we can use to bless and serve one another to the glory of God.  Just as a body has many parts, it needs each of its parts in order to function to its fullest potential. The same is true of the local church. It is important for all of God’s people to be actively serving as a part of their local church body. We need one another.

Every week at PCC, many people just like you give their time to serve others. Whether it’s greeting first-time guests, teaching a class, participating in outreach, setting up and tearing down equipment, or sharing Jesus with children, everyone has a role to play!

Fill out the form below and let us know where you might be interested in serving and someone will follow-up with you soon.

Water Baptism

Water Baptism is a significant step in declaring our faith publicly. It demonstrates a transformed life in Christ.

We believe water baptism is an outward physical picture of an inward spiritual baptism by the Holy Spirit. Water baptism is not a means of salvation nor is it a necessity for salvation; it is simply a testimony of salvation.

Baptism is seen in two important ways:

It is a “Pledge of Allegiance” to God. It is a believer obeying God’s command to be baptized following salvation. It is identifying you, to the church and to the world, as a follower of Jesus Christ.

Baptism is a picture or symbol of what happens at salvation. It is the way that we identify with what Jesus did on the cross. Many have said that it is an outward picture of an inward reality.

If you are interested in learning more about baptism, we would love to start a conversation with you and help walk with you through this step of obedience.

Membership

Joining the official membership of Pittsford Community Church is simply a way of saying, “I like this place, and I believe in its mission.”  It’s like joining a family, not just enjoying dinner at a friend’s house occasionally.  As a member of the family, we all benefit and we all have responsibilities that will ensure the health of the church.

Exploring Church Membership classes are offered periodically throughout the year to help pave the way to a greater commitment to PCC. In our Exploring Church Membership class, we will lead you through basic spiritual formation, the church’s mission and your role in it, and steps to becoming an official member.

We’d love to have you join the family! Contact us to let us know that you’re interested in participating in our next class.

Child Dedication

Child Dedication is an opportunity for you to actively dedicate yourself before God, to provide everything necessary for the growth of your child physically, mentally, emotionally, socially and spiritually. The importance of raising your child in the discipline of Biblical principles and the instruction of the Lord is written in:

Proverbs 22:6 (NIV)

Deuteronomy 6:6-7 (NIV)

Ephesians 6:4 (NIV)

Child dedication can be described as the parent’s willingness to partner with God and the Church to raise your child. We believe dedication is not a sacrament; it cannot impart grace or salvation to your child. Salvation only comes through Jesus Christ as each person recognizes his or her sinfulness and receives forgiveness and eternal life through Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. The scriptural root for this type of dedication is found in 1 Samuel 1:27-28.

1 Samuel 1:27-28 (NIV)
“I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of him. So now I give him to the Lord. For his whole life he will be given over to the Lord.” And he worshiped the Lord there.
